Most of us are confused by what unconditional love and compassion is supposed to be and only apply them when others behave in a certain way that is pleasing to us. Dalai Lama finally reunited with his friend who had been a political prisoner for 20 years. His friend said that, several times during his captivity, he was in great danger. When Dalai Lama asked how; he responded ” I was in great danger of loosing my compassion toward my prison guards and captors”.
