Oxygen Facial
Oxygen is an essential element of life. As we age the oxygen levels in our skin decline, leaving us susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles. The specialized Oxygen Facial at InnerFit in Redmond restores your youthful appearance and smooths out wrinkles.
If you aren’t familiar with the oxygen facial- you should know what it is, and how it works.
What is an Oxygen Facial?
The process of an oxygen facial may feel far more clinical than the typical spa treatment. The procedure uses a wand that looks like an airbrush gun and emits a stream of almost pure oxygen. It helps the skin absorb the specialized serums. The oxygen is antibacterial and provides the skin with a calming and cooling effect. It isn’t uncomfortable or painful, but it does involve some pressure. The session can last from half an hour up to an hour.
When it initially emerged onto the beauty scene, it was a one size fits everyone type of situation. One patient would get the same oxygen facial treatment as the next patient. Now, however, the experience is far more personalized. The skin will first be cleansed and exfoliated (if required), and the therapist will analyze the skin to determine what course of treatment is best.
The pressurized oxygen infuses the serum which the deepest layers of the skin absorb. Because the serum is lower molecular and the oxygen is high pressure the skin can be penetrated more easily. A higher molecular weight serum is used to treat the middle and top layers of the skin. This provides the skin with total hydration for every layer of skin.
An infusion will then be applied, which is specific to your skin’s needs. A blend of peptides, antioxidants, and botanical extracts make up the infusion. You may find yellow dock in your infusion to help reduce any inflammation and redness, or vitamin C for hyper-pigmented skin.
Oxygen Facial History
It’s been around for over a decade now, having been invented in 2002 by Intraceuticals, an Australian company. They invented an oxygen facial machine that was used by doctors to administer chemotherapy for skin cancer.
The system has been reconfigured to the one that is now used, utilizing pressurized oxygen for delivering specialized serum to skin. We all have to face the aging process at some stage, but the oxygen facial has provided a non-invasive, and effective, course of treatment.
Oxygen Facial Benefits?
There are several benefits to undergoing an oxygen facial.
- Promotes collagen production by infusing vitamins and oxygen into the skin. It plumps up facial features, restoring firmness and volume.
- Provides your skin with a detox, our facial skin is subjected to everyday toxins like cigarette smoke and pollution in the air. The oxygen facial reverses those effects, rejuvenating the skin.
- Increases the speed of cell turnover, with researchers believing an oxygen infusion to the skin allows the skin to create new cells more quickly. It helps blemishes, acne, and facial scars to heal quickly.
- No side effects- most other anti-aging treatments come with side effects. An oxygen facial is a gentle treatment and you can resume your normal activities immediately- you can resume using your facial products and apply makeup directly after treatment.
