Learning to meditate can be a little daunting. As with any new skill, it is often helpful to have someone introduce you to the concepts, and offer support. We are pleased to now offer Guided Meditation, and Guided Mediation classes at InnerFit hosted by Debbie Dixon.
Meditation helps to calm, become more effective and happy. We all have the ability to harness these qualities, though often we don’t recognize or develop it. Lets learn how meditation can help.
What is Guided Meditation?
Guided meditation is a process where our guide, takes participants either individually or in class through setting intentions, and meditating while being guided by her voice during the session. This brings an element of comfort while learning a new skill, and results in an amazing rejuvenating experience.
Benefits of Guided Meditation
Healing – The body and mind can be healed from within given guidance and support. Illness is said to originate in the conscious and unconscious mind. Meditation helps release and clear the cellular disruptions, promoting expedited healing.
Pain – Guided meditation has the power to help with pain relief, studies have shown that chronic pain of all varieties can be relieved through the power of meditation. Migraines, arthritis, and ongoing pain from injuries can be minimized and in some cases mitigated.
Improved Sleep – Meditation gives the mind and body the opportunity to relax fully, offering space for deep rejuvenation. In a Harvard Research study a group practicing meditation had less insomnia, fatigue, and depression after a 6 week period than all other groups.
Depression – According to a study in Psychology today, meditation has shown to repeatedly be more effective than either medication or counseling. In this study within 4 months participants felt well enough to no longer need medication.
Anxiety – Through the process of quieting the mind, the ongoing chatter and anxiety is quieted during the meditation process. The calm which is established as part of the practice overflows to all other areas of life. As this happens, the anxiety and worry that are part of normal life becomes less prominent.
