When You Shouldn’t Get A Microcurrent Facial

March 7, 2017

A Microcurrent is a great way to get a nonsurgical facelift. It focuses more on the muscle than the skin. You will feel that it starts to tighten and even see more brightness within the face once it’s all over. It’s often a great way to feel more alive, but there are some instances when you shouldn’t get a microcurrent facial.

Age

Microcurrent facials are designed for people who are over the age of 20. The guidelines for frequency will be based upon your age as well. For example, after the age of 60, it’s a good idea to come in for maintenance every four to six weeks. There is no age limit simply because collagen and elastin break down over time. The use of microcurrent helps to re-educate the muscles and shorten them so that they don’t elongate and drag downwards.

Frequency

A typical Microcurrent facial is going to last around 45 minutes. The results will last for around 72 hours, though as you get more treatments, the results are going to last longer. There is a time when it’s not a good idea to get another microcurrent facial. You should wait at least three days in between sessions in the beginning.

After you have had them done for four weeks in a row at several times per week, you should then hold off and maybe visit every four to ten weeks to get freshened up. Any greater frequency and you’re not going to see the results like you would like.

Medical Conditions

There are some medical conditions where you shouldn’t schedule a microcurrent facial, either.

  • If you are pregnant, you will want to wait until after delivery before you schedule your facial.
  • Also, if you have active cancer, this is not going to be the treatment for you.
  • Finally, if you have a pacemaker or any other kind of electronic device within your body, this is a treatment to avoid. The main reason for this is because of the electrical current that is used in order to create the tightness of the skin.

Nothing is injected, so you don’t have to worry about your body rejecting anything. However, if you have any medical issues, it’s highly recommended that you visit your doctor before scheduling a microcurrent facial. You will also want to stay heavily hydrated for the next several days following the facial. If you are on any kind of restricted fluid intake, you should talk to your doctor before you schedule a microcurrent facial so that you don’t encounter any issues when achieving the cellular change.

A microcurrent facial does offer a variety of benefits. However, in some instances, it might not be right for you. If your doctor doesn’t recommend a microcurrent facial, there are other facials that will achieve similar results.
